About This Journey
Central and East Arunachal Pradesh covers some of India's most remote and least-visited terrain, from the Dibang Valley's high passes to the Siang, Subansiri, and Changlang frontiers near Myanmar and Tibet. This circuit spans river-bridge towns like Roing, the high-altitude wilderness of Anini and Mayodia Pass, the border village of Chigu, and the wide Siang valley around Pasighat. Further routes lead to the hidden Himalayan valley of Mechuka, the rolling paddy fields of Ziro Valley, the sacred riverside site of Parshuram Kund, and the deep rainforest wilderness of Namdapha National Park near Miao. Given the vast distances between these regions, the tour is offered as two separate route itineraries, letting travelers choose the circuit that matches their time and interest.

A gateway town to the Dibang Valley, Roing is home to the Bhupen Hazarika Setu, a landmark bridge spanning the Brahmaputra and named after the celebrated Assamese singer. Nearby, the Deopani Bridge crosses the Eze river, offering scenic views and marking the start of the winding mountain road toward Mayodia Pass and Anini.

The remote headquarters of Upper Dibang Valley district, reached via the dramatic Mayodia Pass, one of the most scenic high-altitude crossings in the region, often snow-covered in winter. Anini sits amid the Mishmi Hills, home to the Idu Mishmi tribal community, with dense forests that form part of the wider Mouling National Park landscape (visited more directly from Pasighat).

One of the northernmost accessible points in the Dibang Valley, Chigu lies close to the China border, offering a rare glimpse into India's remote frontier landscape. The Bruni Falls cascades nearby amid dense forest, while the Dri Village stretches out below, its river forming one of the key tributaries feeding the Dibang.

A morning safari into Mouling National Park offers chances to spot hoolock gibbons, hornbills, and other rainforest wildlife across its dense, biodiverse terrain.
