The gateway to Arunachal Pradesh, Guwahati sits on the banks of the Brahmaputra river. Its centerpiece is the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most powerful Shakti Peeth shrines in India, perched atop Nilachal Hill. A cruise on the Brahmaputra is a popular way to see the city, and a short ferry ride leads to Umananda Island, home to a small river-island temple.

A quiet forested town on the Assam-Arunachal border, best known as the gateway to Nameri National Park and Tiger Reserve. The park is home to tigers, elephants, and rare birdlife, and is one of the few reserves in India where river boating on the Jia Bhoroli river is available alongside jungle walks, offering a gentler alternative to jeep safaris. Also enjoy the scenic Kameng River, which flows through the town and offers opportunities for rafting and angling.

A serene valley known for its apple orchards and, in winter, migratory black-necked cranes. Nearby, the Tippi Orchid Centre preserves hundreds of rare orchid species native to the region.Discover thrilling hanging bridges like Jamiri hanging bridge. The Lumum Waterfalls offer a scenic detour, while Tenga Valley, a small army cantonment town, marks the route toward higher altitudes. Mandala Top, a high-altitude viewpoint and small Buddhist shrine, offers sweeping views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. The valley also serves as an important gateway to the Eastern Himalayas, attracting birdwatchers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts throughout the year. Traditional Monpa villages scattered across the region provide a glimpse into the area's rich Buddhist heritage, vibrant festivals, and distinctive architecture. With its peaceful landscapes, crisp mountain air, and ever-changing seasonal beauty, the valley remains one of Arunachal Pradesh's most picturesque and rewarding destination for travelers seeking both adventure and tranquility.

Arunachal's cultural and spiritual heart, reached via the dramatic Sela Pass, an 13,700-foot crossing overlooking the sacred, glacial Sela Lake. En route, the Baisakhi Army Camp offers a glimpse of frontier military life, while Jaswantgarh War Memorial honors a soldier who held off Chinese forces alone during the 1962 war. Nearby, Nuranang (Jung) Waterfall cascades dramatically beside the highway. Tawang itself is home to Tawang Monastery, India's largest Buddhist monastery and the second-largest in the world, and the Tawang War Memorial, which hosts a moving light and sound show recounting the 1962 Indo-China war. Further out, the remote PTSO Lake and Madhuri Lake — the latter named after a Bollywood film shot there — sit along the high-altitude route toward Bumla Pass, the actual India-China border crossing point, accessible with special permits.
