Assam Tour

Assam is the gateway to India's Northeast, framed by the mighty Brahmaputra river and blanketed in emerald tea estates. The journey begins in Guwahati, home to the powerful Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peeth shrines in India, and the river-island shrine of Umananda. From there, travel to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the last stronghold of the one-horned rhinoceros, for an unforgettable jeep and elephant safari. The route continues to Jorhat, surrounded by sprawling tea gardens, and Majuli, the world's largest river island and a centre of Assamese neo-Vaishnavite culture, dotted with satras (monasteries). Along the way, the historic Ahom-era temples of Sivasagar and the rare hoolock gibbons of Hoollongapar Sanctuary add further depth to this nature-and-culture-rich circuit.
