Buffalo Springs National Reserve Safari

Buffalo Springs National Reserve, in Kenya's northern Samburu region, sits alongside the Ewaso Ny'iro River and is known for its distinctive semi-arid landscape of red earth, doum palms, and natural springs. The reserve, along with neighbouring Samburu and Shaba reserves, is home to the "Samburu Special Five" — species rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, including the striking Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Game drives along the riverbanks often reveal elephant herds, crocodiles, and prides of lions, while the reserve's natural thermal springs give it its name. A visit here can also include a cultural exchange with the Samburu people, close relatives of the Maasai, known for their vibrant beadwork and pastoral traditions.
