About This Journey
Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Assam, protects two-thirds of the world's Indian one-horned rhinoceroses across a dramatic landscape of tall elephant grass, wetlands, and riverine forest along the Brahmaputra. The park's four safari ranges — Western, Central, Eastern, and Burapahar — each offer different wildlife densities and landscapes. Tigers, wild buffalo, elephants, swamp deer, and Gangetic dolphins inhabit its floodplains. The Kaziranga Orchid Park and Assam's celebrated tea gardens at Bokakhat and Diphlu complement the wildlife experience. Nearby Manas National Park (4.5 hrs) is a second UNESCO site worth combining. The town of Kohora serves as the main base. A Brahmaputra river cruise from Guwahati (4 hrs) adds a memorable perspective. Best visited November to April.

Must Visit Spots

Kaziranga is one of the world's best places to see the Indian one-horned rhinoceros in open grassland and wetland habitats.

The western side is known for wildlife-rich grasslands, forest edges, and good chances of rhino, deer, buffalo, and bird sightings.

Kaziranga's wetlands, rivers, and grasslands support an impressive range of resident and migratory birds for nature lovers.

Tea garden visits add a softer Assam experience around the safari, with green landscapes, local flavors, and relaxed photography.
