About This Journey
Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is Maharashtra's largest and most celebrated wildlife sanctuary — the state's premier destination for Bengal tiger sightings, with some of the highest encounter rates of any reserve in India. The park's teak forest, bamboo thickets, and the beautiful Tadoba Lake create diverse habitats for tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild buffalo (gaur), wild dogs, and crocodiles. Buffer zone night drives regularly produce leopard and sloth bear sightings after dark. Nearby Pench Tiger Reserve (3.5 hrs) and Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary (2.5 hrs) extend the Maharashtra safari circuit. The city of Nagpur (140 km) is the primary gateway, with excellent air connectivity. The cave temples of Ramtek (2 hrs) and the wildlife corridor of Navegaon forest offer cultural and ecological side trips. Best visited March to June for peak tiger sightings.

Tadoba Lake is a focal point for wildlife activity, where tigers, crocodiles, and diverse waterbirds are regularly spotted from jeep and boat vantage points.

Tadoba is renowned across India for its high probability of tiger sightings, with a well-established resident tiger population easily encountered on most safaris.

Tadoba has a healthy sloth bear population and sightings are relatively common, particularly near rocky terrain and mahua trees during flowering season.

Massive herds of gaur, the world's largest wild cattle, are a spectacular sight in Tadoba's teak forests and open grassland areas.
